I was on the fence about including Chiang Mai on my 2013 Asia trip itinerary, but when someone I know insisted on hooking me up with a family friend from there, my decision was made.

I budgeted 4 days in Hoi An for the famous Hoi An tailoring experience. Here’s how I expected it would go:

  • Day 1: Do some window shopping, see what I might want to get custom-made
  • Day 2: Decide what to order, look through books and customize my own items, get measured
  • Day 3: Alterations
  • Day 4: Pick up finished product(s)!

I was on the fence about Dalat: should I or shouldn’t I visit the Central Highlands of Vietnam? I hadn’t heard all too much about it, and it’d be so easy to just continue on up the coast from Mui Ne to Nha Trang and keep the beach vibes going.

The ‘Best of Cambodia’ photo gallery below is a collection of images I took in April/May 2013 while traveling in Cambodia. In two weeks of travel, I visited cheap Siem Reap and went cycling around Angkor, frolicked along the waterfront and checked out the prison in Phnom Penh, got hassled and watched firecrackers at Serendipity Beach in Sihanoukville, and chilled out on the most beautiful island in Southeast Asia (in my “professional” opinion) – Koh Rong.
