Things To Do On The Esperance To Perth Drive
If there’s anything I’ve learned in my 5+ years exploring Australia, it’s that places are SPREAD. OUT.
My friends and I routinely go on weekend trips that require a 2-3 hour drive to reach.

You guys, I think I’ve started this thing where I use my birthday as an occasion to discover somewhere exceedingly cool and off the radar. Y’know… like exploring amazing places in nature that SHOULD be all over instagram but mercifully are not, due to the effort required to reach them.
This isn’t news to Sydneysiders, but did y’all know how good the hikes in Sydney are?
It’s true. There are dozens of walking and hiking trails in Sydney and surrounds. And they’re so damn accessible that hiking Sydney just becomes a part of your routine, whether it’s an after-work walk along the harbour or beach, or a Saturday spent completing a longer Sydney hike.
Filed under things that gave me culture shock after moving from New York to Sydney: the fact that Boxing Day is an actual holiday in Australia. In the US, we typically don’t have the luxury of having the day after Christmas off from work; go figure that now that I live in a place where this is a thing, I no longer work an office job.
This past weekend, the whole world finally heard about the devastating bushfires that have been ravaging Australia for the past 3 months.
To be fair, bushfires are a pretty normal occurrence in this country during summer (we call it “fire season”).
Oh my goodness is this post long overdue!
You’d think that after 5 years in Australia, 6 months of which I lived in Melbourne, I’d have already shared a Melbourne itinerary on the blog.
I’ve said it before and I’ll undoubtedly say it again and again: One of the best things about Sydney is all of the harbour walks and coastal walks you can do here.
Kefalonia (Cephalonia) was the 4th and final island in my 4-week Greek island hopping adventure in summer 2019.
Unlike the other 3, I didn’t even know this island existed before I started doing my research on the Greek islands.
More than a little overshadowed by the Blue Mountains and the Royal, Ku-ring-gai is another national park just outside of Sydney that NO ONE ever seems to talk about.
Sure, maybe it’s a little bit smaller, and slightly less dramatic than its counterparts… but Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park boasts bushwalks, rainforests, mangroves, Aboriginal sites, and beaches galore.
I spent my first 3 years in Australia too scared to drive on the left side of the road.
I don’t have too many illogical fears, so I always knew this one was a silly mental block I had to get over.
