Having spent a cumulative 6.5 years living in and traveling around Australia, I can say with conviction that one of the best things I’ve done in this country is the Perth to Esperance road trip (in fact, I’ve done it twice!).

It may not be near the top of most travelers’ bucket lists (admittedly it wasn’t on mine), but the Sapphire Coast of NSW is one of the most gorgeous stretches of coastline in all of Australia.
Most travelers make the 3 hour drive from Perth to Margaret River in one go, without stopping to smell the metaphorical roses.
Admittedly that was me 5 years ago, when I visited both Perth and Margs and literally nothing in-between.
At a glance, Albany (in Western Australia) is a bit of a sleepy, dreary place. Known as a retirement town and plagued by frequent rain and wind, it doesn’t always give off the best first impression for visitors.
Esperance is known and beloved for its idyllic white sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters. If you didn’t know better, you might look at photos of beaches in Esperance and swear they were taken in the Caribbean or in the South Pacific.
Oh boy. 2019 was a bit of a doozy, let me just say.
I had every intention of living a balanced year in which I’d make new friends and strengthen my bonds with my existing friends, go on copious adventures with said friends, do a bit of traveling, do a bit of personal development work, and grow my blog.
Oh my goodness is this post long overdue!
You’d think that after 5 years in Australia, 6 months of which I lived in Melbourne, I’d have already shared a Melbourne itinerary on the blog.
I’ve said it before and I’ll undoubtedly say it again and again: One of the best things about Sydney is all of the harbour walks and coastal walks you can do here.
