This month was full of so much good stuff that it left me questioning my move to Sydney this weekend. Melbourne is a damn fine city, and to be honest I’m not sure I’m ready to give up the plentiful coffee shops, bike routes, and yoga studios that have made my day-to-day life here so enjoyable.

So hey, 2016 is off to a good start! Summer in Melbourne has been pleasantly lacking in rain, though the widely varying day-to-day temperature is mildly annoying. I worked a lot of freelance hours in January and beat my monthly income record, watched a lot of tv, and somehow managed to fit in a couple of city escapes for more scenic and beachy pastures.

I’m a girl on a mission this month aspiring to conquer as many items on my Melbourne To-Do List as I can before I relocate to Sydney in March.

I don’t know why it took me 5 months to get myself to the highest vantage point in the Southern Hemisphere (me and exceptional viewpoints are like a month to a flame), but on a recent summer blue sky day I needed a break from work and without much deliberation, hopped on my bike and rode into the city.

Planning

It’s been awhile since I did one of these travel planning posts, namely because I’ve taken an anti-planning approach to my recent travels. But with so many events coming up and opportunities arising, I suddenly find myself with a very structured 3 months of travel adventures coming up.

Stringing together a collection of Melbourne’s best street art is about as silly as creating a roundup of the city’s best coffee shops: there’s just too much of both of them to condense into one guide or Top 10 list, and they’re constantly changing.

Australia

I’m a little weird about birthdays. Some years I let mine pass with nary a frill; others, I use it to justify any and all passing whims and indulge with zero guilt.

Australia

I very nearly skipped Phillip Island on the roster of Victorian excursions to take from Melbourne. All you ever hear about it is the famous Penguin Parade, and honestly I’m not super interested in schlepping a couple hours just to watch these creatures waddle onto shore at dusk.
