When I look back at 2014, I think: Man, I worked hard and accomplished a lot.
I’ve long been a preacher in support of living a balanced life. It’s why you’ll never find me staying late at the office or bragging about how I went to the gym 6 out of 7 days last week.
Behold, the Williamsburg Bridge: my favorite of all the bridges in NYC. It’s not the prettiest, most famous, or most traversed – but I love it fiercely.
Our love affair began innocently enough.
In nearly seven years of living in (or in very close proximity to) Williamsburg, I’ve amassed an impressive collection of photos of the prolific street art in this Brooklyn hood. Iceland was every bit as magical as I’d expected it to be. An 8 day roadtrip around the entire country, a few days in Reykjavik, and a 4 day trek in the highlands provided enough memorable moments to fill this blog for the rest of the year.
By the time this post goes live, barring any volcanic eruption/disruption from Bardarbunga, I should be en route to JFK Airport to meet my roadtrip partners in crime. I almost hesitated to write about my plans for traveling to Iceland because it would be the saddest thing ever to have to say OH JUST KIDDING if I couldn’t go after all.
“THERE’S A VOLCANO ALERT FOR ICELAND!”, Becca texted me last week, just 11 days before we were due to fly to Reykjavik.
I immediately took to The Google, which confirmed that an orange alert had been issued due to “intense seismic activity at the Bardarbunga volcano [which]indicates the potential for a disruptive ash event similar to 2010”.
