When I first arrived in Australia over 4 years ago, the Overland Track in Tasmania was on the top of my hiking to-do list. And rightfully so, as it’s pretty renowned for its epic-ness.

Melbourne is a fantastic (and “liveable”) city, but there’s some equally amazing stuff worth experiencing elsewhere in Victoria.
If you’re into stargazing and mountain adventures without any tourists around, boy do I have the perfect Sydney weekend getaway for you!
The Warrumbungles probably aren’t going to make it onto any visitor’s Australia bucket list, but that only makes it better for locals who do have the time and inclination to schlep out to bumble*ck New South Wales for a semi-private hit of nature.
I don’t know about you, but when I lay eyes on a photo of a devastatingly gorgeous landscape, that place tends to catapult to the upper reaches of my bucket list.
I don’t know about you, but I never heard much about the Dolomites until I really started getting into traveling and hiking. So if you’re like me, then here’s a quick catch-me-up:
The Dolomites are often referred to as the Italian Alps or the “pale mountains”.
I originally came across Bouddi National Park on the Central Coast of New South Wales in my perpetual quest to find awesome outdoor adventures that are accessible without a car. Someday I’ll get comfortable driving in Australia… and some year I’ll be able to afford a car.
The Kalalau Trail is exhilarating, exhausting, terrifying, drop-dead stunning, and positively one of the best hikes you could ever hope to embark on.
I tend to operate on a *throw myself into it and see what happens* basis, often without pausing to consider whether I can actually succeed (after all, whatever happens, I can handle it).
While I’m on a roll with confessions, let me throw one more atcha:
It took me 21 months in Australia before I finally made it out to the Blue Mountains.
Queenstown is indisputably an outdoor adventure paradise. From cycling and epic hikes to scenic flights and about 100 other activities, I’d move there in a heartbeat if it were on the beach.
